Description:

SUU Teacher Education Department is seeking a creative, motivated and detail-oriented individual to support our marketing and advertising efforts in our programs. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, work independently and in a team, and the ability to write current, relevant content for a variety of channels including web, social and print.

They will be a significant ambassador of Southern Utah University that is responsible for the recruitment and mentoring of prospective and current professional development students. They will guide individuals through the process of understanding our programs including the realities of life as a traditional and non-traditional online student. Duties include recruitment, student admittance to SUU, and registration for classes.

Much of the assistant’s time will be spent interacting by telephone and email. The position entails guiding individuals through a process that can seem daunting. Outreach and communication are outbound and inbound. Sales experience is helpful. In order to properly achieve results, it is required that our Associate works at least 10 hours a week during the academic year.

Our Associate should be highly motivated, have a professional demeanor, and have strong communication skills when interacting with staff, faculty, and administration; they should be inclined to work with a high level of engagement in a professional office.

This is an excellent opportunity for students to get hands-on experience while developing their communication and marketing skills. Develop original content for web, social and print. Write press releases, blogs, and social media posts. Conduct research and interviews. Create and maintain relationships with students, faculty, staff and the community. Develop video content.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in journalism, marketing, and/or communications a plus
  • Experience in videography a plus
  • Hold the university in great esteem.
